Men are Such Fools - 1938 ***

It's incredibly strange to see Bogie in a romantic film where he isn't a hard done by gangster or 'good guy with a gun' type. But actually I found that he rounded off the film nicely, and it was a pleasing touch to have him present.
Linda (Lane) is desperate to get ahead at work without caving in to the attentions of the various men in the advertising agency she works at. Unlike her colleagues, she would rather focus on her career instead of get married and settle down immediately. This all changes however when she catches the eye of Jimmy (Morris) a co-worker of hers who has fallen for her hook, line and sinker. Although she begins to reciprocate his attentions, Linda is not about to give up her job or her friendship with Harry (Bogart) a radio executive whom also has feelings for her, and the relationship between Jimmy and her gets off to a bad start when he becomes jealous to the extreme.
Great, enjoyable, lovely Priscilla Lane and romantic Bogie, what could be better? Ah yes, the fact it's directed by good old Busby B himself!
