Hysteria - 2011 ****

Fabulous film. What a controversial subject to do a film about, and how cleverly and amusingly executed. Mortimer Granville is a doctor who feels as though his methods are light years ahead of regular doctors. So much so that he ends up getting fired from his job, and finds it impossible to get another placement. That is until he comes across a position working for a prestigious doctor available at a clinic with a difference - one that focuses on treating female hysteria, by manual stimulation. What a daring topic! Granville cannot help but be fascinated and frustrated by the so called 'disease' that affects over half the women in London, and completely by chance comes across an idea that could revolutionise female pleasure all over the world.
Hugh Dancy is really very good as Mortimer Granville, and Rupert Everett is great as his quirky and utterly wacky friend.
